Our little luge run has brought many hours of joy to my family and I this winter.  I am grateful. 

I joyfully watched how my tulips grew , opened and danced for me on our kitchen table.  I coined the phrase “Dancing Tulips” in the mid 90’s when I had a flower store.

I enjoyed myself this weekend in the simple pleasures of life.  Family, playing with kids, good food, planning our dream home ( it is going to be a dome.  More on that in another post), and of course giving.

The dancing tulips and I want to congratulate Alex from the USA .  Lawttery of Attraction has chosen Alex to be the 6th winner of The After Christmas Giveaway.

Gratitude.

I believe Canada is the best country in the world.

Why?

Our landscape is incomparable to anywhere in the world.  It would take an entire lifetime to explore every nook and cranny.

We have over 300 000 fresh water lakes. The most in the world.

 We are surrounded by 3 Oceans, The Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic.

We have huge mountains on the west coast.  (Yeah I’ll be going back there on Jan 31st.) Huge hills on the east coast. With prairies, meadows, valleys tundra and everything else you can imagine in between.

An ethnic diversity which we embrace and celebrate.  And the people from coast to coast are hardworking, humble, fun-loving and extremely friendly.

The reason that I am most proud and grateful to be a Canadian is because of our health care.  We do not have to pay anything extra to visit a doctor.  Or to go to emergency, have blood work, x rays and ultrasounds performed.

Do you realize the peace of mind that gives you when you are in pain.  And you don’t have to worry how much everything will cost. 

Wow! It is a blessing.

We had to come face to face with this the past 2 days.

You see my wife, Debbie was having some abdominal pain.  It got so bad that she couldn’t even walk.  On Thursday a co-worker had to drive her to the emergency.

They did blood work and took x rays.  Which came back negative.  They couldn’t see anything wrong. 

They sent her home heavily sedated to ease the pain.  She slept for 12 hours and then back to the hospital for ultrasounds yesterday.

Which also came back negative.  She is resting comfortably (because of the drugs) but she still is in pain.

We have another ultrasound on Wednesday.  Unless of course we have to go back to emergency.

Now it is true our system is not perfect.  She had to wait over 6 hrs before being seen by a doctor on Thursday. 

And all of our taxes are extremely high.

But the peace of mind that you know you will be taken care without having to pay extra is well worth it.

What would it feel like if the whole world could have this peace of mind?

As one of my ardent supporters I feel I have let you down and I ask for your forgiveness.

 

I have had trouble with my computer for the past 6 weeks and finally fixed it a week ago.

 

However I find it very difficult to write recently.  My work has been gruelling both physically and mentally.  On top of that I have had 2 workers staying with me during the week and I find it hard to find time to write.

 

Also my kids are away at our trailer at Long Beach most of the summer.  The only time I can see them is if I go there on the weekends.

 

I no these are excuses however some things are more important .  I will try and make an effort to at least mention the names of the winners.

 

However  I will promise you that I will keep giving and that The Lawttery of Attraction is happening. The last winner was Mira from Canada.

lovely to hear from you, please don’t feel you need to ask forgiveness, and definitely don’t make yourself feel bad! You are doing what you need to do in your life at present, and sometimes it does get a bit much to fit it all in! We all get to overwhelm at times (no wonder your computer had a meltdown!) I’ve been getting the auto replies saying the competition has closed, so I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t get your blog to update!

MOST importantly do the things you feel most inspired to do, or if it is things you are feeling you have to do in your present circumstances, then find a way to feel good about that. Seems to me your major focus is your family - either bringing in money to support them, or wanting to spend time with them. That’s more important and worthy than pretty much anything - our kids grow up incredibly quickly and we have to spend as much quality time with them as possible. You are such a wonderful role model for your kids, they have chosen you well!

Hey Bald Guy in the Blue House,

I’m not sure why i’m writing this and I hope you don’t mind, but I think the motivator needs some motivation.

Maybe the universe sent me…or maybe not, but your last entry in your Blog was July 13 and I don’t want you to lose sight of your dreams, David.

I think you’re busy and it’s summer and all your left over energy needs to go to your family….but i’m issuing you a challenge….10 minutes a week for your blog…that’s my challenge to you…or you can get one of your guest writers to write for you…sometimes…

I’m just worried that being away too long will slow down the energy and some readers may also disappear….

Sorry…I hope you’re not mad….I just took a gamble that sometimes all it takes is a reminder from someone you don’t know all that well. 

If i’m way out of line (sometimes I am)..then ignore me or write to me and tell me to mind my own business..cause it’s true there’s lots I don’t know…but just in case you just needed a kick in the butt (figuratively, of course)..I thought I might as well be the one…since I love kicking people’s butts and Yuichi needs a day off!!
